EVENT INFO - Rock the vote art show
ART, MUSIC & A LITTLE DEMOCRACY
Rock the Vote is taking over downtown Prescott with a celebration of art, music, community and the very important business of having a voice.
From September 18β26, 214 Gallery will be filled with work from a small but mighty lineup of Arizona artists, alongside an interactive installation that asks you to do more than just stand there looking thoughtful with your hands behind your back.
Come look. Come listen. Come participate. Maybe leave with a piece of art.
Most importantly, remember that your voice belongs in the room.
DON'T JUST LOOK AT THE ART. GET IN THERE!
There will be interactive art installations, because this particular art show isn't interested in having you quietly shuffle from wall to wall: you're invited to add your voice to the exhibition!
Make a mark. Add a thought. Respond. Participate. Leave a little something behind.
As the week goes on, and more people step through the gallery, the installation will change with them, becoming a piece shaped by the community that showed up, which is kind of the point.
Democracy isn't a spectator sport. Neither is this.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Kat Richards
Kat Richards, better known as Miss Kitty, is an artist and professional tattooer whose creative world is populated by a wonderfully eclectic mix of Southwestern imagery, retro Americana, science fiction, cryptids, flying saucers and whatever other strange and beautiful things happen to catch her eye.
Kat has been tattooing professionally since 2001, getting her start in Minneapolis before making her way west to Arizona in 2015. Her creative practice stretches well beyond tattooing into painting and mixed media, with a visual language shaped by more than two decades of making art, telling stories and putting her own unmistakable spin on familiar imagery.

William Dugan
William Dugan is an artist and printmaker whose work embraces the wonderfully physical nature of printmaking: carved lines, bold contrast, ink on paper, and the small variations that make every impression its own.
Working across printmaking, painting and sculpture, Dugan brings a distinctly handmade voice to the Rock the Vote exhibition. His work is graphic, tactile and full of character, the kind of art that reminds you there was a hand behind every mark.
J.D. Hunt
There is something immediately recognizable about JD Hunt's work. Bold, graphic and packed with personality, his pieces pull you in with strong imagery and then give you plenty of reason to stick around.
JD's work has the kind of visual confidence we love at Hot Dog Moon. It can be playful, strange, familiar and unexpected, sometimes all at once. Rather than asking to be quietly admired from across the room, it feels immediate and alive, the kind of work that starts a conversation.
That makes JD a natural fit for Rock the Vote. At its heart, this exhibition is about expression: making something, saying something, questioning something and putting your own point of view out into the world.
